Running an effective Team-Based Learning (TBL) session requires more than just good content. It demands a smooth workflow, engaged learners, and flexible facilitation.
While many of our TBL educators are familiar with the process of TBL, some of the InteDashboard tools that support these phases can go unnoticed.
At InteDashboard, we’ve developed a range of such features designed to reduce friction and enhance the learning experience for both instructors and students.
Recently, we asked our TBL community to vote for InteDashboard features they believe make TBL easier to manage. In this post, we’re highlighting four of these valuable tools.
Manually assigning students into teams can eat into precious class time, especially when students already know their groups.
With InteDashboard’s Self‑Assign Groups feature, learners simply select and join their pre‑assigned teams themselves.
Enable students to self-enroll into sections and teams under enrollment settings
This cuts out manual work for instructors and empowers students to take ownership of their collaboration setup.
Use this feature when group assignments are predetermined or when you want to give students quick access to their teams without administrative delays.
Even the best-planned questions can uncover unexpected answers or prompt new insights during class. InteDashboard accommodates for these changes by allowing instructors to edit answers post‑activity.
You can modify correct answers, accept additional responses, or adjust question text for IRAT and TRAT activities even after students have submitted the test.
Option to update correct answer or update question after activity is completed
Editing answers post-activity ensures your assessments remain accurate and inclusive of valuable student contributions without rerunning the entire session.
InteDashboard’s Hints & Explanations feature lets you include targeted clues and detailed rationales directly within IRAT and TRAT questions.
This built-in support helps students self-correct and reinforces key concepts as they work through problems.
It’s especially effective in flipped or asynchronous settings, where learners benefit from just-in-time guidance without waiting for instructor intervention.

Enable the Hints & Explanations feature to promote deeper understanding and reduce common misconceptions during independent or team-based activities.
When sharing team or individual responses, visible names can unintentionally influence discussion or inhibit quieter students.
InteDashboard’s Anonymous Presentation Mode hides student and team identifiers during presentations for all TBL activities–IRAT, TRAT and Applications, creating a safe space for all voices.
Instead of the original Team Name (Team 1), a dummy name (Team Silver 6) is used when anonymous mode is turned on.
This feature is ideal for sensitive topics or when you want to level the playing field, ensuring ideas are judged on merit rather than familiarity.
Use anonymous mode to foster candid feedback and richer classroom dialogue without fear of judgment.
Small tools can yield significant improvements in the process of Team‑Based Learning facilitation.
By empowering students to self-assign groups, allowing post‑activity edits, embedding hints and explanations, and enabling anonymous presentations, InteDashboard helps you streamline logistics, enhance learning experiences, and cultivate an inclusive environment.
Try these tools in your next TBL session and join our community discussion to get more insights and best practices from fellow TBL-ers.
