As technology reshapes education, understanding AI’s role in Team-Based Learning (TBL) is essential. In this blog, we will be sharing a summary of insights on a survey the InteDashboard team has done to capture educators' perspectives on AI integration in TBL curriculum. You can also download the full report at the end of this post.

Through workshops with over 3,000 educators across 70 countries—including four sessions focused on AI in TBL—we have gathered diverse insights from TBL practitioners. An 18-item survey was designed to explore educators' views on AI, covering perceptions, current practices, and adoption challenges.

Summary of Our Insights:

  1. Widespread Interest - There’s significant enthusiasm and interest among educators for integrating AI into educational contexts.
  2. Variable Adoption Rates - Data reveals a wide variation in the adoption of AI, with different frequencies of usage and diverse perceptions about its impact on TBL.
  3. Exploratory Phase - Many educators are still exploring how to effectively use AI. This indicates adoption is gradual and characterized by experimentation.

Existing Challenges:

  1. Integration Challenges - Educators face challenges such as unclear integration strategies and ethical dilemmas, which hinder the full implementation of AI.
  2. Need for Clarity & Reliability - There is a call for clearer guidelines and more reliable AI solutions to ensure effective integration.

Moving forward, there are two key calls to action.

Firstly, to fully realize AI’s potential in enhancing TBL and other educational methodologies, there is an urgent need for comprehensive training programs. These programs should equip both educators and students with practical skills for effective AI use.

Secondly, collaboration between educational institutions and AI developers is essential to establish clear, practical guidelines for AI integration in classrooms. They should provide actionable strategies for AI implementation in ways that address ethical concerns and implementation challenges.
